Riding and hiking maps -> Zoom in! South of Krarup there is a large forest area with beautiful lakes. Perfect for a relaxing and pleasant ramble/hike, bike ride or horseback ride.
Krarup – A lovely village with even lovelier people in the middle of Funen’s most beautiful nature. Here in Krarup we have a lot to offer our guests, for example the playground at the school, The Oasis– a special nature area with a playing field, picnic area, fireplace, shelters and QR codes in the area that inform you about the vegetation. Explore Voldbjerg on Hundstrupvej – a natural mound that was formed during the Ice Age and which, according to legend, is inhabited by both elf girls and trolls or visit cute alpacas of Lindehus.
Korinth Cinema – The local cinema is well equipped with inviting armchairs and comfortable sofas. The Korinth cinema shows new films with a delay of three or four weeks and thus with lower fees the ticket price can be kept down to 50 kroner.
Ringe Cinema – Ringe Bio dates from 1916 and is one of the oldest cinemas in the country. It has a 99-seat auditorium and a café with seating for around 30 guests.
Ringe-Korinth nature trail. The 16 km nature trail on the old railway between Ringe and Korinth takes you past cultural history and landscapes of Funen. In several places you pass tracks from the railway’s time.
The Marguerite Route – The 4.218 kilometre route is a tribute to Queen Margrethe II. The trail goes right past the our house.
Svanninge Bakker og Bjerge– Offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation, such as Troldeland (one of Denmark’s largest nature playgrounds) and a fantastic Bikepark for young and old alike. The playground opened in 2004 and is today one of the most visited on Funen.
Nab Strand – A small public beach in a beautiful location on the south of Funen, with views over to the south funen islands.
Langemarken Strand – A public beach in a quiet location on the south of Funen. Just drive past the Dagli’Brugsen in Ulbølle and the Langemarken campsite to the end of the Langemarken road. The beach is narrow, but ideal enough for a good walk along the beach.
Nyvangs Fiskesøer og Fodboldgolf – Cast your line at Nyvangs fishing lakes on Snarupvejen just outside Espe to catch rainbow trout and crayfish or play a round of football golf on Midtfyn’s first football golf course on approximately two hectares of parkland with newly planted trees and also tables and benches between the courses. The courses are between 30 and 80 metres long and have a total of 18 holes. Trolleys make it easier to carry the balls, and there’s even room for a case of beer.
Højrupgaard – Cabins, camping, shelters, hay hotel, horse riding and Put & Take lakes. Fishing is available between sunrise and sunset throughout the year.
Egeskov Castle – Egeskov is a Danish manor house near Kværndrup south of Ringe on South Funen in Denmark. The castle, which is one of Europe’s best preserved moated castles, was built in 1554 by the rigsmarsk Frands Brockenhuus. The farm is older and dates back to the 15th century. Sydfynske Veteranbane – Take a ride on the South Funen Veteran Railway and experience what it was like to travel by train in the 1950s. The train rumbles through beautiful Funen landscapes and passes both forests and fields. The journey from Faaborg to Korinth takes half an hour, and after a half hour stop the veteran train returns.
Brahetrollebborg Slot – No public access to the castle, but there is access to the magnificent rhododendron park. Entrance is from the road Spanget in Korinth.
Holstenshuus Castle & Rococo Garden – Holstenshuus’ history goes back 700 years. The farm was originally called Findstrup, and the estate grew out of the now vanished village of Findstrup, of which only a few houses and Funen’s only church ruin remain. After burning down in 1908, Holstenshuus was rebuilt with some modifications in 1910. There is no access to the castle, but the park, laid out in 1753 as a Rococo garden, is open to the public all year round. Guided walks in the woods around Holstenshuus estate are recommended, as the woodlands are full of history and cultural secrets such as Emiliehøj, Regitzehøj, Kongens Høj and the old deer park.
Gorilla Park Svendborg – Is a climbing park in Svenborg with over 100 different climbing elements. There are several challenges e.g. tarzan turns, BMX riding in the treetops, snowboards, base jumps etc. up to 26 meters high, giving cold sweats and big smiles in beautiful and safe surroundings. An experience providing a special thrill for young and old alike.
Danmarks Forsorgsmuseum (The Danish Welfare Museum) – Fattiggården tells the tragic story of the socially excluded, i.e. the poor, the sick, the homeless, the maladjusted and the orphans, in the years from 1872 to 1974. Go to the dark side of society and see the original rooms and equipment where the inmates slept, ate, worked, washed – and were punished.
Naturama – Is a natural history museum that exhibits a large collection of stuffed animals from water, land and air. There are ongoing special natural history exhibitions this year focusing on monsters of the past. A great experience, especially for children.
Danmarks Museum for Lystsejlads (The Danish Yachting Museum) – A maritime museum in Svendborg, covering local seafaring heritage and more than 150 years history of yachting and sailing in Denmark.
Christiansminde Minigolf – Concrete minigolf course with 18 holes featuring exciting and fun obstacles. Located at one of Funen’s best beaches in Christianminde.
Sailing tours with the schooner META – Take an unforgettable island tour or sunset tour with the schooner Meta through the beautiful South Funen archipelago.
Bowl’n Fun Svendborg – As well as bowling, the centre offers Laser Hero, Mini Golf, Escape Rooms, Shooting Simulator and Happies Playland.
Øhavsmuseet – A very special museum experience about you and nature. Discover and experience how you react to nature’s different stimuli and influences. With sounds, lighting design, atmospheric setting and exciting stories you will be led through 5 time periods as you are being tested and feel the power of nature on your own body. Cultural history can be explored in the Bell Tower, the town’s old landmark, as well as the Arresten (The Town Jail) and Kaleko Mill, which are part of the Øhavsmuseet.
Øhavstien – The Øhavstien, with its 220 km, is one of Denmark’s longest hiking routes, encompassing the South Funen Archipelago.
Valdemar Castle – On Tåsinge near Svendborg, the castle was built in the Rococo style by King Christian IV between 1639 and 1644 for his son Count Valdemar Christian, who took over the castle at the age of eight. However Valdemar Christian died in combat by 1656. Today, Valdemar’s Castle is run as a multifaceted business with operations in agriculture, forestry, rental, tourism, hotel and catering.
Koldkrigsmuseum Langelandsfort – Langelandsfort was a manned fort under the Navy until 1993, and is now a museum. It was built in 1953 to monitor and, during wartime, prevent the passage of enemy ships through the Langelands Belt. Take a guided tour or walk around on your own to discover, amongst other things, gun and anti-aircraft emplacements, underground accommodation and operational bunkers, a complete section of the Berlin Wall and, last but not least, the history of the Cold War told in words and pictures.
Eventyrbadeland (Bøsøre Strand Feriepark) – Indoor and outdoor water park on 3 levels. The water park is equipped with enclosed water slides for all ages (the highest is 6.5 meters and the lowest is 1 meter), outdoor water playground, children’s pool (30 cm deep) and hot tubs where you can a massage in the 38°C warm water. On the top level you can sit in the sauna and enjoy the beautiful view of Storebælt.
Odense Zoo – Visit Odense ZOO all year round and get up close to giraffes, lions and penguins in Europe’s best zoo.
BrandtsKunstmuseum – Changing exhibitions of classical and contemporary art, photography and film in a former textile factory.
Danmarks Jernbanemuseum (The Danish Railway Museum) – The museum exhibits an extensive collection of train carriages, locomotives, models of trains and ferries and other effects. Bring the whole family to experience, play and learn about the cultural history of the Danish railways.
Den Fynske Landsby – Travel back in time at the Funen open-air museum in Odense. The Funen Village comprises farms and houses as they looked on Funen in the 1800s, with half-timbered buildings, fences, livestock, a country pond and a country lane. The whole village is surrounded by cultivated land. The museum tells the story of rural life around the 1850s and includes artefacts from the period.
Møntergården – Møntergården is the cultural history museum in Odense, where you can experience, gain knowledge and recieve food for thought to understand who the people of Funen are and were, and the conditions that shaped their lives.
H.C. Andersen Hus – The H.C. Andersen House in Odense is a museum dedicated to the world-famous fairy-tale poet and author Hans Christian Andersen. The focus here is more on the fairy tales he wrote, rather than him as a person. The partly underground museum covers an area of 5,600 square metres. The small yellow corner house, formerly known as H.C. Andersen’s birthplace, is part of the museum.
Fjord & Bælt – A world of unique marine animal experiences for children & adults, enriching and informing you about the blue universe of the sea. Pat a crab, tickle a starfish, feel a flatfish and explore the seabed.
Vikingemuseet Ladby – At the cultural history museum on Kerteminde Fjord you can visit Denmark’s only warship grave from the Viking Age in 925. The Viking Museum at Ladby tells the story of ancient kings and life in the Viking world.
Nyborg Slot – The castle was built as a walled fortress around 1200 in the middle of Nyborg Fjord and is thus Denmark’s oldest, preserved royal residence and played an important role in the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Take a free tour around the old royal castle and learn more about the its history.
Faaborg MiniBy – Visit the historic town of Faaborg as it looked around 1890, built in miniature at a scale of 1:10. More than 140 houses have so far been built from the original architectural drawings.
Faaborg Museum – The museum is a total work of art in itself including painting, sculpture, architecture and furniture design, which was mainly collected from the circle of Funen artists.
De Japanske Haver – Discover 6 different styles of Japanese garden culture just outside Nørre Broby on Funen, here you can relax, experience tranquility, harmony, simplicity and beauty. In addition, a selection of Japanese-inspired dishes such as sushi or Japanese “meatballs” are offered. Thus, the place is more than just a garden.
Midtfyns Golfklub – Golf Club’s 18-hole course was inaugurated in 2008, and is built in slightly hilly terrain to the west of Ringe Lake.
